Ingradients (For 8 people)
  • 1 round-shaped sponge
  • 12 tablespoons of orange juice
  • 2 teaspoons of brandy
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 200 g of sugar
  • 100 g of starch
  • 1 lt of milk
  • Lemon peel
Preparation

In a saucepan combine the egg yolks with the sugar and stir until the mixture is smooth. Add the starch, stir and gradually add the hot milk until the mixture is completely dissolved. Filter the mixture through a strainer to remove any lumps. Cook over low heat, add the lemon peel and stir constantly until the mixture becomes creamy. Combine the orange juice with the brandy and stir. Cut the sponge into 3 layers and soak each layer with the mixture of juice and brandy. Cover the first layer with a part of the cream and do a second coat following the same procedure. Finally cover the cake with the rest of the cream. Decorate with pieces of fresh fruit.
